Review Laax Volcom PBRJ

VIDEO VPBRJ LAAX 2009

After a whole day of shoveling (due the snowfalls of the last weeks) at the « Stairs Feature » in LAAX, we erected our tents with bluebird conditions on early Saturday morning.
A last coffee for the crew and at 10am we opened the stairs feature for training. Hmm, 10 o`clock and the kids on fire! We asked them for not shredding to hard during training because we knew how hard our format will be….for nothing! They ignored our advice.
Riders from all over Switzerland as well as England and Holland travelled to LAAX to celebrate some « hardcore » jibbing with us. As I said, the training session was hard, and sometimes I turned away from the railsetup because hard bails hurt myself.
The obstacles : A stairset with a downbox, a downrail and a down-flat-downbox. This year, the pbrj railjam took place at the groundstation and not on the hill. In other words, we were in the heart of skiing tourists and après-ski areas. This fact has created so much fun situations and a very good impact to people who thought : « snowboardin is dead »… Snowboarding isn`t dead dude…it`s what we heard mumble in the crowd
Anyway, the contest…to many tricks to name them all, spins were thrown on and of the features and in the finals some riders couldn`t resist to do some sick gap tricks. Check the pics and the video to have a « impressiv impression » of the contest.
Just after the finals we asked the kids for the last exam. The best trick session on the whole setup including the tire we put up below the stairs. The result : Next level shit close to skateboarding ! The public was impressed and yes, it was loud on the square.
Amazingly no one got hurt during the contest, those kids must have had some kung fu lessons before our pbrj exam. Everyone have earned the name karate kid.

Thanks to everyone for everything -billy-
